  The Exterior

Outside we have supplied table and chairs, sun lounges and a barbeque.
The two trees outside the caravan makes an ideal hammock situation so we will be making the suitable fixing points to both.
Out of the school holiday times the site is quiet and a great place to relax.

  New plans to come.

With gas/electric heating it makes out of season's cooler nights, far more comfortable.
The old holiday scenes of keeping your coat on and huddling around one heater or the cooker grills, are a thing of the past.

La Carabasse - Vias Plage - (Languedoc Region)

The caravan is positioned on a large complex, in the South of France called la Carabasse.
The site is just before Vias Plage between Monpellier and Perpignan on the Mediterranean Coast
If you travel by car south from Paris, you take the A6>A10> A75 through Millau on towards Montpellier and finally on to the A9 where you will come off at Junction 34 near Bessan,
The total return trip across France in toll roads comes to about 60 Euros.
Alternatively you can do the trip by train.  Or even take the car on the train, sleeping over and arriving at Toulouse.
Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord.  Travel to Gare du Lyons on the metro where you can pick up the 180 mph TGV down to Montpellier or Agde.

  Region
Other towns nearby are Sete, a fishing town, which also has beautiful beaches.   Agde, a river town,
Cap d'Agde, (known as Petit Tropez), famous for its large marina and the tennis tournaments.

Ryanair fly everyday to the nearest Airport of Montpellier but there are also flights to Nimes and further west, Carcassonne.

Cars can be rented from the airport but its best if you book in advance on the net.

Languedoc has so many interesting places to visit.

Beziers is close to the coast and the beach. Inland lie the mountains and lakes of the 'Haute Languedoc Regional Park' to the north and the wild Corbières to the south, both wonderful for exploring and walking.

Beziers also has an excellent Golf Course and for those who are looking for an active holiday there is river canoeing, fishing,  and wind-surfing on salt-water lakes. Throughout the year, there are concerts and theatrical events taking place in and around Beziers.

A great trip is to the village of Saint-Guihelm-le-Desert stopping off at the gorge where a river flows through into a large lake and the Grotte de Clamouse where caverns are deep in the the side of the mountain.  The village itself is relatively unspoilt and well worth the visit.

Around the region are plenty of vineyards, so if wine is your requirement then you have plenty of choice.  We favour St.Felix the foothills of the range of mountains near to Lodeve.

Around Vias

Vias Plage is the nearest village and this is facing the Mediterranean sea.  The beach, is walking distance, passing by a number of restaurants, bakeries and little shops selling clothes, ornaments etc.
Two hundred yards back up the main road into the site, is the Canal du Midi where it's great for a bike ride.  (you can rent bikes on the site).  Just beyond the Canal is the village of Vias, again with many small restaurants.
As far as shopping for food is concerned, there is a small market shop on site.  Larger super stores are nearby at Agde (Hyper-U) and Bessan (Intermache).
Walking distance away is the village of ViasEvery Wednesday you can visit a superb market selling fresh foods (olives, meats, excellent cheeses), household items and clothes etc.  Around the village are superb bars and restaurants.
Siblu/Haven offer many things to do for the energetic family including clubs for the children, evening entertainment,
along with activities in the larger swimming pool etc.
