Andy & Michelle reporting from la Carabasse

Letter from Siblu re site at Valras Plage Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:43 am

Hallo All, we (me + er indoors) saw some LC staff yesterday, and they are living on LC and the new site already! Nice to see BIL-US getting their priorities right,(stuff the owners, lets sort everyone else first).

It would appear that the new site is divided by the flood plain law.  Apparently, because half of the site is uphill, it comes under different rules! It can also offer longer opening times to the higher end of the site `cos that end doesnt flood!!  At the lower end of the site the mobiles are on stilts, at least 1 metre high (3 feet to you old `uns), they look ridiculous as you can imagine. The other staff we spoke to said that the pool has only 3 guards at present, and the bars only have a manager

and an assistant manager for the two bars!
We have had reports of snow in the UK, and so you dont worry about us here in Vias, I can tell you that its sunny 19c ish but windy. see you all soon   -   Andy + Mich

Meeting

Sun Mar 16, 2008 5:07 pm

Hallo all, I was under the impression that Siblu had a meeting with the prefecture on 8th March. If I`m right why have we not heard what the outcome was, whether it`s good news or bad, I for one would like to be kept informed.
Just to keep you up to date (and jealous!), we `er indoors` and myself went to Aigues Mortes today, temp around 19 but windy, nice lunch, then a leisurely drive back via Meze, took all day but, what the hey!! see you all soon  Andy + Michelle

Opening dates for the new parc

Sat Mar 8, 2008 3:58 pm

Hallo all, just read the testimonials on Siblu from the new park website.
It may come as a surprise but there isnt one from an owner on guess where?
YEEES you`re right LC doesnt have an owners comment. The one saying it`s LC is , if you read it,is from an owner from Lac de Reves!  I wonder why Siblu didnt ask David Juster, or David Luff, me, Tony Glover or any other owner on this website,

but I think I already know the answer!!
see you all easter,

no sorry not open easter, erm some time after the middle of April.

One more thing. How is the new park not in the prefecture`s domain?  The park is closer to the `sous prefecture` (under prefecture) in Beziers than LC is! and the main prefecture for Langedoc is in Montpellier, and they make the rules everyone adheres to. This must be more of `a sales person`s` B-S, this doesnt stand for Brilliant Siblu, by the way!!  Andy + Michelle

The alleged new site in valras plage

Sat Feb 16, 2008 11:00 am

We thought it may be `les vagues` but it could (had a better look!) be a campsite called `la yole` which is roughly the same size as LC,and is better placed for access to valras, and is slightly closer to the beach, this is also about the same distance as LC (the beach).

The camp itself from a sales point of view looks terrific in that it doesn't look as if it has many `owned`plots, and is ripe for the (alleged )conning gits that are siblu to get their grubby thieving mits on.

Anyway spleen vented, another beautiful day in LC land sunny, no wind, birds singing, you know the sort of thing! all the best to everyone, see you all soon, mid april !! (tossers)  thats my spleen again!  andy + mich

Opening dates

Thu Feb 14, 2008 9:20 pm

Hallo all, I don't wish to be the bearer of bad tidings, but it would appear that LC wont get its opening dates back, because they no longer cater for tourers, and other campers. Apparently the early opening dates were for the people that cant afford high season prices. whether this is true or not I don't know, but allegedly its French law. Make your own minds up, we know what we believe!

Hallo all, me again, we are very sorry to see and hear of the departure of that lovely couple Pete and Jo Kelly from LC, it is understandable, and they will be sadly missed by us and many others we're sure.

We wish you all the best for the future and we know that we will be seeing you again soon. Andy + Mich
ps, hope they didn't get to drunk and miss the ferry!!
Mon Nov 12, 2007 11:58 pm

ok here goes, VI55, VI45, VI46, PR58, CP41, JA28, JA14, RA38, VB87, it also looks as though the whole shed has been taken from VB85, because the stuff `in` the shed is still on the floor, and the outline of the shed can be clearly seen around it.

another security issue is that there is an entry point from the navarre campsite behind LC, into the CP area. it comes out by CP16, and behind JA27, through the fir trees, and over the perimeter fence, it is clearly visible from the roadway in CP area.

On a brighter note, i looks like new electricity cables are being installed in CP area, and the new paving around the pool is almost complete.    all the best andy

Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:18 pm

hallo all, visited LC today,in glorious sunshine, and its looking
pretty good, new electric cable being laid into CP area, hedges and
trees trimmed, pool are tiled, its a shame you lot cant come and enjoy
it too! oh thats right the parks closed to us owners, for the next 5
months! also has someone any idea of the price hike for the VB area? we all know that mr kelly`s was a paltry 250 euros a year, sorry, half year, increase, but he does live on the exclusive CA area of LC.all joking aside are they taking the p***? same dates more money, bargain!  your thoughts please.c ya andy j

Sat Nov 10, 2007 12:48 pm
hallo again, just read `french news`(a paper for expats)about vias airport, and it says that ryanair will be the airline (groan)and they will be flying from bristol, 3 times a week, useful if you live there, but not if you live in say, anywhere else in the uk. cya andy+mich

Wed Nov 7,   2007 18:20pm

do you know that sheds are being broken into again on LC, and the security issue is rearing its ugly head again.

all the best andy+mich

Re: open on the 15th?

Sat Apr 14, 2007 12:37 pm

Hallo all it would seem that I was incorrect a couple of months ago re staffing levels. apparently there was lot” a lot of cleaners" on site, there was only one, and she was doing "sales" cleaning.

You all are lucky you aren’t here at the moment because instead of getting the site ready for opening,  the staff (not the cleaners!) has done the French thing of "we don’t work in the rain!" so, currently we have julienne

(assistant site manager) in a pick up clearing logs etc,

Carlos + Lisa have done a fine job with the pool, and it will be open for 15th.

I have arranged with Carlos to go swimming Sunday. If I feel brave enough, see you all soon andy you know where

LC as usual

Mar 29, 2007 8:08 pm

hallo all, dont know who you mean by "a certain persons freinds" but, since I last posted, those people that are not staff have been told to leave,(some immediately) and all the "extra" gas bottles have
gone! gypsy encampment I dont think so! builders yard yes, mixers, piles ofbricks etc. extension to  bar are going painfully slowly, and they (les artisans!) have only just put the upright "I" beams in!
now its whinge time, I have just received a letter from siblu stating
that if we have visitors to the park we will be charged for this
"privilige"?" do they not think we pay enough ground rent, (which for us works out at 1000 euros a month with the current opening dates) expensive gas, tourist tax, etc, I think they (siblu) are a bunch of theiving, underhanded bastards, but I dare say they will get away with it, AGAIN!  see you all soon andy vb

Moving

Fri Mar 23, 2007 5:00 pm

terry I think you may find that moving to another site is not as easy as it seems. if you do then is the owner of the new site prepared to accept your "old" mobile, or as we have found, going to insist that you buy a nice shiny new one from him.
you may also have to pay (as we all have) an entry fee, as well as a "leaving fee" (check your Siblu contract), plus transport costs I totally agree with everyone that Siblu are taking the p-ss withopening dates, gas bottles, etc and I for one would be off LC like a shot if they gave us a decent price for our mobile are they pigs I can see flying?

see you all Easter, sorry after Easter cos the park aint f-king open
bitter and twisted  andy+meesh vb01

hallo all

Mon Mar 12, 2007 8:04 pm

hallo all, thanks david for the website from la reserve, very
interesting, and we may go onto this site as well(greedy gits)
terry w i think it must be your shed, but i deliberately left off
the pitch number cos you never know who`s looking (paranoid? who me?)
david i think you may have overreacted a bit to my "long sticks"  comment, they are long sticks but, 30ft long! and as stated     i dont have a camera. see you all easter andy vb

re: security

Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:59 am

hallo all, went to LC yesterday and drove straight on to site, there
was no office staff about, cos we checked, and no security, and no
barrier (due to ongoing work), so what mr hurst told david(website dave) is total bullsh-t.anybody that regularly uses this site will know that we are still in the area and visit LC often, and since the park
closed for the season we have only been challenged once!
we did our checks of the pitch numbers that were given to us, and one shed has been damaged, but all else looks ok. we think it may be
mr luff, although i'm not sure of names, its behind the pool.
spoke to another owner yesterday, and he and two others that he knows are in the process of selling up, they are vb9, vb10, and vb12 (this owner upgraded summer 2006) and by the way they are all french owners!

It appears that nothing has been done as regards the gas bottles, as
most plots still have 2 bottles on show.  does this mean that if siblu "get a visit" from dde they can then wriggle out of a possible change of opening times by blaming the owners who havent removed them?its all a conspiracy! whilst i`m on the subject, the gas bottles on the staff "camp" have 2 or more bottles each, surely these should have been removed asap as there is no need to contact owners?

on a lighter note, website dave, there wont be any leaves for you to
rake up, as they have dealt with your trees, and you now have 2 long
sticks! i wish i had a camera see you all easter andy+meesh vb

re: gas bottles

Fri Feb 23, 2007 5:31 pm

hallo all, its just a con by siblu to get you all to get rid of your
"unsafe" gas bottles, so that you all can go onto the gas main, at your
own expense. if this was really a regulation why has it not been
implemented before, i`m sorry but "special dispensation for herault
region" just dont cut it for me, why now and not two years ago? or next year 2008? alain`s farewell party tonite,(i trust you all have your invites), but where its to be held is a question, as the atoll is in bits, ie no doors, and half the roof missing! blue tony, the message you posted had this in it "lower staff fees over the winter period" WRONG! you should see the amount of staff still here mate, lots of cleaners, although why i dont know, the park is closed is it not?
maybe i`m just getting more cynical as i get older! on a brighter note, carnival tomorrow, 1030 start, 2230 the after parade dance starts, dont know if i can drink for 14 hours! but theres one way to find out
see you all easter andy vb
re: weather

Sun, Feb 18, 2007 6:02 pm

Re: break-ins

Sun, 11 February, 2007 3:13:19 pm

hallo all, just back from LC, and hope to post this before the rugby starts, (allez les bleus). ok the list is VB, 04,17, 38, 45, 52, 56, RA 20, VO O1, CA 23 (B23), CA 20, all secure as far as I can tell, (doors locked, windows closed etc). there are a couple of sheds that need theyre security addressed, (but are still locked).  sorry to say eileen, no evidence of rotivation on your plot. as to trying to find somebody to talk to (damien, alain etc) gave up! looked in offices, reception, rear office, and maintenance office, its like the marie celeste ere!  Oh, no security either! other news, the pool edge is coming along swimmingly (haha) and there are cameras along the back wall. blue tony had a look at your door, and it looks like the plastic on the door frame has been split, about a 2" tear doesn't look to serious, but im no expert.see you all soon andy vb762
Re: weather

Tue Feb 6, 2007 5:11 pm

hallo all, you may or not believe this but Sunday 4th feb. we were in t-shirts! beautiful sunny day not a breath of wind, and total silence, ah! bliss! I was in the low Alps (Embrun) last week and the weather was the same.  What's it like UK?
see you all Easter we hope, andy vb01 (the smug git)
Re: visit to LC

Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:14 pm

hallo all, had a visit to LC on sat 6 jan daytime, and am pleased to report that we were challenged on entry, asked if we were proprieters(?) what our pitch number is, and our names! all this info was written down.

He is a new guard and not dissimilar to the guard that looks like tintin! the weather has been fanbloodytastic with temperatures in the low 20`s no clouds no wind just as you like it, oh sorry i forgot you ain't ere! we (me and er indoors) have been roped in to do the vias village carnival on feb 24.the firm i work for (pgl) are supplying a longboat, and we are going as marauding vikings! should be a grin and will post fotos if we get any, and anyone is interested once again see you all easter, andy+meesh vb01

      Re:New Year

Fri Jan 5, 2007 4:51 pm

hallo all hope you all had a good xmas, and hope this is a better new year. we havent been to LC lately cos we been to uk,20 dec-4 jan. before we left we had drive down to see some people and, the security hut was nearly complete (very nice too) but swimming pool edge hadnt been started. also couldnt see any evidence of cctv, but this doesn't mean it isnt there (i leave you to make your own minds up). on the plane back to uk we sat in front of two other LC owners, and they had been onsite the day before(19 dec) to see aboutbuying another mobile (their third), and get this siblu didnt tell them of the problems with the opening dates! we put them straight though, and they were less than impressed. our mobile insurance was 149euros from M.Tolede, AGF, for a three bed cosalt cascade
hope to see you at easter, andy+meesh vb01

Re: LC

Thu Dec 7, 2006 5:08 pm

hallo all,  had a drive around perimeter fence wedsand, sorry to say,no evidence of cameras, (this isn't to say they arent there) and rear gate to the beach has been re-designed and the wall around it raised to about 8ft,and extended to cover most of the brook, and about 10ft the other way. the only trouble is there are 2 electric boxes one on top of the other, about 3-4ft high, and this negates the work they did on the wall (oh the french, dont you just luv em).  nice big camera on entry to site now though, so hopefully improvements will continue. we just hope that security's cloaking device fails and we get to see them every now and again! see you all, soon your roving reporter!!  andy
